How we work

A clear process, honest estimates and no surprises

Our process is deliberately simple. You talk to the developer, you agree the scope in writing, you see progress often, and you own the result.

Process

Four steps

  1. Free consultation

A call or exchange of emails to understand the problem, the people involved and what success looks like. We ask questions, point out risks and say honestly whether we are the right fit. There is no charge and no obligation.

  2. Written estimate and scope

You receive a document that describes what will be built, in what order, the assumptions we are making and the estimate. We would rather spend a day getting this right than discover a misunderstanding in month three.

  3. Build in short milestones with demos

Work proceeds in short milestones. After each one you see working software, give feedback and agree what comes next. Code goes into your repository from the start, so you can see progress at any time.

  4. Launch, handover and support

We deploy to your environment, hand over code and documentation, and stay available for fixes and changes. Ongoing support and the next round of work can continue under a simple monthly arrangement.

Engagement models

Four ways to work together

We recommend the model after the consultation. Not sure which suits you? Our article on fixed price versus time and materials explains the trade-offs.

Fixed-price project

A defined scope for an agreed price. It suits well-understood work with clear requirements. Changes are handled through a written change request.

Time and materials

You pay for the effort as it is spent, with regular reports. It suits evolving products and work where the scope will change as you learn.

Dedicated monthly developer

Consistent part-time or full-time developer capacity each month, working in your tools and priorities.

Support retainer

A monthly arrangement for fixes, updates, monitoring and hosting, so your software is looked after.

Commitments

What you can rely on

NDA on request

We sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share anything sensitive.

You own the code and IP

Once the work is paid for, the code and intellectual property are yours.

Source in your repository

Code lives in a repository you control, so you are never locked in.

Regular updates

You hear from us at an agreed rhythm, and early when something changes.

Working-hours overlap

We work from New Delhi (IST, UTC+5:30), with overlap with Europe, the Middle East and part of the US and Australia.

Direct access to the developer

The founder is hands-on in every project. No account manager in between.

Communication

Tools we work with

Email and video calls are the default. We also use WhatsApp, Slack or Microsoft Teams if that is where your team talks, and your issue tracker for tasks and bugs, so there is one place to see what is happening.

Tell us what you need built

Describe the problem, the system or the idea. We offer a free initial consultation and a written estimate, and you will talk directly to the developer who would build it.
